1What This Covers
Mentalyze is operated by Sueta FZE LLC. This policy covers our websites — the pages you are reading now and the quiz funnels we run adverts to. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal data generally; this page is narrower and answers only the question of what is stored on your own device.
It does not cover our mobile apps, which do not use cookies. It also does not cover what Meta, Stripe or any other company does with information they collect in their own name once it reaches them — each of those is governed by that company's own policy, and we link to them below.
2What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on your next visit. Websites use them because the web has no memory of its own: without something stored on your side, every page load is a stranger arriving for the first time.
Browsers offer two other stores that work the same way for our purposes, and we treat them identically in this policy and in the choice we ask you to make:
- Session storage is emptied the moment you close the tab. It is where your quiz answers live, which is why they survive a reload but not a closed window.
- Local storage persists until it is cleared. Our analytics provider uses it alongside its cookie.
Whether something is technically a “cookie” changes nothing about your rights over it, so the tables below list all three and say which is which.
The four labels you will see used
- Session cookies are discarded when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies stay until the expiry date they were given — the “Expires” column below — or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies are stored under our own address, mentalyze.ai.
- Third-party cookies are stored under someone else's, and can be read by that company across every site they appear on.
Those last two labels are less useful than they sound, and we would rather say so than lean on them. The Meta Pixel's _fbp is written by Meta's script but stored under our address: first-party by where it lives, and set for a third party's purposes. So the tables below name who actually sets each one and what it is for, which is the question the label was standing in for.
3Similar Technologies
Cookies are not the only way a site can tell that you were here, and a policy that covered only cookies would leave the rest unmentioned. There are two others on our sites.
Web beacons, also called tracking pixels
A web beacon is an image — normally a single transparent pixel — that exists only so that your browser requesting it tells the other server you opened the page. It works without JavaScript, which is the whole reason it is used.
We use exactly one, and only on our quiz funnels: a 1×1 image requested from Meta reports the page view for visitors whose browser has JavaScript switched off. This site does not carry it. It reports nothing beyond the fact of the request, and it cannot be blocked by the banner — a banner is JavaScript, and this fires precisely when JavaScript does not run, which is why the landing pages simply do not include it.
Software development kits
An SDK is another company's code running inside our own pages, able to do what our code can — set a cookie, read one, make a request. Two run on our sites: Stripe, which draws the card form and sets the two fraud-prevention cookies in the first table, and Apphud, which manages subscriptions and sets the cookie in the third. Both are named in those tables rather than left inside the word “SDK”.
4The Three Categories
Everything we store falls into exactly one of three groups, and the difference between them is what you can do about it:
- Strictly necessary — the site cannot do what you asked without them. Remembering your quiz answers, remembering your cookie choice, letting Stripe check that a card payment is not fraudulent. These are set without asking, because there is no version of the site that works without them, and no consent to give.
- Analytics — tells us how many people reached each step and where they gave up. Optional.
- Advertising — tells Meta whether an advert we paid for led to a visit or a purchase. Optional.
5Strictly Necessary
Set without asking, because the site cannot do what you asked of it without them. That does not mean all at once: most are written only when you do the thing they exist for — start a quiz, pick a language, reach the card form. Note how little is in them: five hold a single word each, and none of them contains your name, your email or your quiz answers in a form that leaves your device.
| Name | Set by | Stored as | Expires | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Mentalyze | Cookie | 6 months | Remembers whether you accepted or declined the optional categories, so we neither ignore your answer nor ask again on every page. |
visitor_region | Mentalyze | Cookie | 1 hour | Holds one of two values, eu or row, worked out from the country our network provider sees. It decides which edition of our legal documents to offer you. It does not contain your IP address or any identifier. |
legal_edition | Mentalyze | Cookie | 12 months | Which edition of the Terms and Privacy Policy you chose to read, so the site stops sending you back to the other one. |
legal_language | Mentalyze | Cookie | 12 months | Which language you chose to read our legal pages in, so a choice made in the language switcher survives the next visit instead of being overruled by your browser's settings. |
legal_region_notice | Mentalyze | Cookie | 12 months | Records that you dismissed the notice offering the other edition, so it stays dismissed. |
quiz_state_v1 | Mentalyze | Session storage | Until you close the tab | Your answers to the quiz you are taking, so a reload or a step back does not lose them. Never sent to a third party. |
neurobalance_quiz_state_v1 | Mentalyze | Session storage | Until you close the tab | The same, for our other quiz. Each funnel keeps its answers separately. |
mentalyze_checkout_pending_v1 | Mentalyze | Session storage | Until you close the tab | Records that you were sent to the payment step, so we can show you the right thing when you come back. |
mentalyze_exclusive_shown_v1 | Mentalyze | Session storage | Until you close the tab | Records that a one-time offer was already shown, so it is not shown twice. |
paywall_discount_started_at_v1 | Mentalyze | Session storage | Until you close the tab | When a discount countdown started, so the timer shows the same remaining time after a reload instead of restarting. |
__stripe_mid | Stripe | Cookie | 12 months | Set by our payment processor on the page holding the card form, to detect fraudulent payments. Required to take a payment at all. |
__stripe_sid | Stripe | Cookie | 30 minutes | The same, for the length of a single payment session. |
Stripe's two cookies are set by Stripe on the page carrying the card form, and only there. See Stripe's cookie policy.
6Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used — how many people reached the third question, how many reached the price, how many stopped at each. It is aggregate counting, not watching individuals.
| Name | Set by | Stored as | Expires | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ph_…_posthog | PostHog | Cookie and local storage | 12 months | A random identifier that lets us count how many people reached each step of the site and where they stopped. It is not linked to your name or email unless you create an account. |
If you decline
PostHog still runs, but in a mode that writes nothing to your device at all: the identifier is held in the page's memory and disappears the moment you close it. In practice we can still see that somebody moved from one step to the next during a single visit, and we cannot tell that today's visitor is the same person as yesterday's. We deliberately do not turn it off entirely, because this mode requires nothing from you and stores nothing.
We do not record your screen, log what you type, or capture the text of the answers you select. Our analytics is configured with automatic click capture switched off for exactly that reason.
7Advertising
We advertise on Meta's platforms, and the Meta Pixel is how Meta knows an advert worked. When it is active it reports four moments to Meta: that you opened a page, that you finished the quiz, that you reached payment, and that you paid. Those reports carry an identifier and the value of a purchase.
| Name | Set by | Stored as | Expires | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Meta | Cookie | 3 months | A random identifier the Meta Pixel writes on our own domain, used to tell Meta that an advert led to a visit or a purchase. |
_fbc | Meta | Cookie | 3 months | Stores the click identifier from the advert you arrived through, when you arrived through one. |
apphud_fb_external_id_sent | Apphud | Cookie | 24 months | Records that our subscription provider has already passed a pseudonymous identifier to Meta once, so it is not sent repeatedly. Only ever written when the Meta Pixel is running. |
| Cookies on facebook.com | Meta | Third-party cookies | Set by Meta | Loading the Meta Pixel contacts Meta's own servers, which may set or read cookies in their own name. Those are governed by Meta's policies, not this one. |
Meta is an independent controller of what it receives, meaning it decides its own uses for that data and we cannot decide them on your behalf. Their terms are in the Meta Privacy Policy. Apphud handles our subscriptions and passes a pseudonymous identifier onward as described above. Apphud's own privacy practices are described in the Apphud Privacy Policy.
If you decline
The pixel is not loaded at all. No script from Meta runs, no request is made to their servers from your browser, and none of the three cookies above is created.
8Your Choice, and Changing It
We ask before setting anything in the Analytics or Advertising categories. Until you answer, and if you decline, neither category is set: analytics runs in the storage-free mode described under Analytics, and no advertising cookie is created.
Accepting or declining are equally easy, on purpose. The two buttons on the banner are the same size and the same weight, there is no extra step behind declining, and closing the banner without choosing is not treated as agreement.
On our quiz funnels
The quizzes we advertise to work differently: rather than a banner in front of the first question, the first screen states that continuing indicates your agreement, and links to this policy. If you would rather not agree, do not continue past that screen — and if you already have and want it undone, write to us at the address below and we will action it.
One thing is not left to that screen. If your browser sends a “Global Privacy Control” signal, the Analytics and Advertising categories stay off on the funnels exactly as they do here — without you agreeing to anything, and whatever the first screen says. See Browser and Device Controls.
Changing your mind later
- Clear this site's cookies in your browser. That deletes your recorded answer along with everything else, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
- Or write to hello@sueta.co, and we will confirm it in writing.
Your answer is remembered for six months and then we ask again. A refusal is stored for exactly as long as an agreement — we do not re-ask sooner because you said no.
9Browser and Device Controls
Independently of anything on this site, your browser can block or delete cookies for every site you visit. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will break things here — most visibly, a card payment will be refused by our processor — but that is your call to make.
Browsers also send a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” (GPC) signal. We honour the GPC signal: if your browser sends it, we treat it as a decline of the Analytics and Advertising categories. We do not currently detect the “Do Not Track” signal separately, as no agreed standard exists for it — use the banner or write to us instead.
10Changes and Contact
We update this page whenever the list changes, and the version and date at the top change with it. If a change adds a new category or a new purpose, we will ask for your choice again rather than assume the old answer covers it.
